Will The Witcher 3 Make Its Way to the Nintendo Switch 2? Here’s What We Know

As whispers surrounding the Nintendo Switch 2 grow louder, fans of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt are asking a burning question: will Geralt of Rivia be getting a graphical facelift on Nintendo’s next-generation console? While CD Projekt Red has delivered the beloved RPG across several platforms over the years, their current stance on a Switch 2 upgrade is, well… silent.

Originally released in 2015, The Witcher 3 has seen remarkable longevity. It’s been enhanced for PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, and even squeezed onto the original Switch in 2019—a feat that many thought impossible at the time. Despite the visual compromises, the ability to play such an expansive RPG on a handheld console was a technical marvel. Now, with the prospect of more powerful Nintendo hardware on the horizon, players are hoping for an upgraded version that combines portability with modern graphical fidelity.

However, CD Projekt Red isn’t giving anything away just yet. In recent interviews and statements, the studio has carefully avoided confirming any plans for the Switch 2. Their focus appears to be squarely on Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, which is reportedly being lined up as a title for Nintendo’s upcoming console. While that’s exciting in its own right—especially considering how far Cyberpunk 2077 has come since its rocky launch—it does leave Witcher fans wondering where their favourite monster hunter fits in.

It’s worth noting that the original Witcher 3 port to the Switch was developed in collaboration with Saber Interactive, a studio known for its technical wizardry. That partnership helped make the game accessible to an entirely new audience, and it stands to reason that a potential Switch 2 port would require a similar effort, especially if CD Projekt Red is also managing multiple other projects like the upcoming Witcher sequel and continued Cyberpunk updates.

Of course, the demand is certainly there. The Witcher franchise remains one of gaming’s most revered RPG series, and the opportunity to revisit The Witcher 3 with improved visuals and performance on a portable powerhouse is tantalising. It would also give Nintendo a fan-favourite title that could help anchor its third-party lineup on launch.

But until CD Projekt Red decides to spill the beans, all we can do is speculate. Whether it’s a full-blown remaster or a simple performance boost, Geralt’s potential return to Nintendo’s next console would surely be welcomed by longtime fans and newcomers alike.

So, will The Witcher 3 ride again on Switch 2? Only time will tell—but we’ll be ready with silver swords in hand, just in case.
